The Scream Sells for $119.9 Million

An image of fright demanded a frightful amount of cash at auction Wednesday night.

When someone says 'The Scream' , you probably think of a perfect horror movie scene. But in this case the scare factor came in the form of dollar signs, of just how much people were willing to spend on the painting 'The Scream' for just under 120 million dollars....

This was an auction for the Edvard Munch painting of that name. Its one of four that he made, but the only one still privately owned and sold for 119.9 million bucks in the Wenesday night auction at Sotheby's.

The sale set a new record for the auction house. The previous record was held by a Picasso that sold for 106 million. The name of the winning bidder was not released.
